Luca Puricelli
Researcher at Technological Innovation Research Institute

After earning a Master’s Degree in Physics in 2013 at University of Milan, I achieved a PhD in Physics in 2017 under the supervision of Prof. Alessandro Podestà, gaining extensive expertise in the characterization of biological samples on the micro- and nanoscale by Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). In 2018 I joined the Nanobiotechnology labs at the Joint Research Centre in Ispra (Varese, Italy), where I broadened my technical expertise on analytical instrumentation for the investigation of materials properties on the nanoscale, including Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Focused Ion Beam (FIB), EDX spectroscopy, Plasma Sputtering, Profilometry, Photolithography.

From 2021 to June 2023 I have been teaching mathematics and physics for high-school students, before joining again the research environment from July 2023 at the NanoInnovation laboratories in Trieste (Area Science Park, Basovizza), in the group lead by Prof. Loredana Casalis. My current work, in the framework of PRP@CERIC project, is focused on the study of topographic and mechanical properties of cellular membranes by AFM, and their relevance in the interaction of cells with external pathogens and nanoparticles.
