TEAM LAME
Simone Deidda
Researcher at Laboratory of Electron Microscopy

With a background of organic and physical chemist, I worked intensively on the synthesis and analysis of nanomaterials for heterogeneous and photo-catalysis. The main focus of my research was the synthesis of nanocatalysts through different preparation methods (e.g. wet impregnation, calcination and hydrothermal synthesis) and the characterization of their surface area and porosity, via physisorption and chemisorption techniques, to determine their influence on catalytical efficiency, which was then determined by Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). For further characterization, I used a wide number of analytical techniques, such as X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Inductively Coupled Plasma – Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) and X-Ray Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS).

After my degree, I worked as laboratory technician at HERAtech s.r.l., both in the analytical and sample collecting fields as well as in laboratory management, in the framework of an internship in the water cleaning plant of Trieste.

Since July 2024, I joined the LAME group in the role of laboratory technician being in charge of all the activities concerning the operation and implementation of sample preparation methods for electron microscopy (both SEM and TEM) as well as of the maintenance of the LAME equipment and upgrades of laboratories utilities.
