NAHV – North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley
NAHV – North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley is a project funded by Horizon Europe with the goal of creating an economic, social, and industrial ecosystem based on hydrogen. The project aims to establish a cross-border Hydrogen Valley to support the energy transition and promote sector integration among transport, hard-to-decarbonize industries, and end users within an integrated ecosystem.
NAHV stems from the joint initiative of the Slovenian Ministry of Infrastructure, the Croatian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, and the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia to create a Hydrogen Valley.
OBJECTIVES
To achieve the goals of the European Hydrogen Strategy and the European Green Deal, the NAHV project includes the development of pilot projects covering the entire hydrogen value chain — from production to distribution, storage to end use — with specific applications also aimed at decarbonizing the three NAHV territories through the use of renewable energy sources, such as solar power.
The main goal is to enhance system resilience, supply security and energy independence.
MAIN RESULTS
-
Analyses and studies on the development of the hydrogen economy in the target territories
-
Development of a replicable model for hydrogen exchange and shared policies among the three project partner countries
-
Creation of a coordinated transnational system for production/distribution/storage of hydrogen
-
Initiatives to improve public perception of hydrogen ecosystems
-
Implementation of 17 pilot projects related production/storage/use of hydrogen
Partners
The project is led by Holding Slovenske elektrarne (HSE) and is managed by a Joint Working Group, composed of representatives from the competent authorities of the three participating territories.
