At Area Science Park, the Life Sciences infrastructure is a dynamic hub of expertise and technology dedicated to researchers and companies in the pharmaceutical, microbiological, biotechnological, nutraceutical and diagnostic sectors. Its laboratories are part of an inclusive network of open laboratories where advanced equipment and specialized know-how from various institutions and centres are integrated to conduct experimental tests and applied and industrial research projects.

Life Sciences Research Infrastructure at Area Science Park

In the genomics, epigenomics, and transcriptomics laboratories of Area Science Park, DNA and RNA sequencing analyses and genotyping (microarrays) are carried out. This national important research center brings together cutting-edge equipment, specialized expertise, and know-how, fostering collaborations among regional, national, and international institutions. The labs are certified by Illumina.

Virology Unit

The Virology Unit of Area Science Park studies viral pathogens from a molecular point of view. Its research activities range from elucidating virus-host cell interactions to the development of vaccines and antiviral drugs.

Life Sciences Open Lab

An international network of partners integrates and offers their equipment and expertise to provide know-how and services to companies and new product developers. This open research infrastructure is available for conducting experimental tests and applied and industrial research projects in the pharmaceutical, biotechnological, nutraceutical and diagnostic fields.
