The ICGEB invites applications for the post of Technician

POST TITLE: Technician

DUTY STATION: Trieste, Italy

DATE REQUIRED: as soon as possible

TYPE OF CONTRACT: fixed-term appointment

DURATION: an initial period of three months, with possibility of one-year extensions subject to satisfactory performance

LEVEL: GS-1 50% part-time (UN Salary Scales)

DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Head, Technical Services, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

• loading and operation of the automatic washing machines and stoves for correct washing and drying of plasticware and glassware from the research laboratories;
• loading and operation of the automatic autoclaves for correct sterilization of plasticware, glassware and solutions from the research laboratories;
• periodic internal cleaning of machines and minor maintenance work;
• production of supplies of high-quality Sterile Water for the research laboratories;
• perform other work-related duties as may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS: Essential High School Diploma or equivalent. Technical High School qualification (Healthcare/Environmental Biotechnology) and previous experience using the equipment in glassware and sterilization laboratory are an asset.

 COMPETENCIES: Manual dexterity and practical ability to load automatic machines, problem-solving, interpersonal skills and interest in working in an international environment.

LANGUAGES: Fluency in English. Knowledge of Italian is an asset.
